Ribbons for Embellishments
|
We carry only the finest heirloom quality French & English laces which
are mostly 100% Cotton. Since we are sure that you will want your creations
to last for generations, we recommend against using polyester or all nylon
lace since the life of those synthetic fibers are comparatively very short.
As far as I know there are three weights in the French lace categories:
12pt - most of our laces are of this style (basically flat design);
14pt - those with an L or AB in front of their number (a slightly raised
design)
16pt - those that begin with 200 or 208 (these are the Jacquard Maline
laces).
-
These Maline are very special as only a very few lace machines survived
World War II (being mostly dismantled for parts) and because they are
re-embroidered they are very costly to make. We have grouped the laces
in "families" for ease of viewing.
Our 100% Mercerized Pima Cotton Batiste embroideries are manufactured
in Switzerland by the same companies that made them during the heyday of
the Victorian and Edwardian Eras. To save space we have grouped the
white and ecru laces and embroideries together. If there is no E next
to the price then that lace only comes in white.
Enjoy, and if there is something that you need and don't see just give
us a call and we'll try and get it in for you. Meanwhile here are a
couple of items that you might consider getting for your heirloom
collections.
Swiss Motifs:
These little motifs are fun to apply at the neckline
of a doll's dress or baby daygown.
