We closed our store nine years ago in Sebastopol and while going through my boxes of books (21 years of goodies stashed) I found many treasures that I thought you all might like to give nice homes to. The following are mostly one of a kind, with a few exceptions.

Using Our New Shopping Cart:

To place an order with our shopping cart is easy. We have designed our cart so you can place an order for several items from one page or just a single item and then either checkout or continue shopping throughout our store. Just select the quantity of the items you want and hit the submit button at the bottom, or if you only want one item select the quantity (and size for patterns) and click the "Order Me" button along side the pattern of your choice. Not all of our pages are connected YET to our cart but we're working on it. In the meanwhile if you find an item within the pages of our catalog which is NOT on the shopping cart format just go ahead and add it to your order form under the miscellaneous category and we'll get back to you with the corrected total. Or if you prefer you can still use our secure order form.

Heirloom Sewing Series by Belles and Beaus

When Garden Fairies metamorphized into a Smocking and Heirloom Sewing Business 18 years ago (formerly a Candle and Orchid Store in San Francisco), this delightful company (Betty Rast & artist Trudy Horne of Collars Etc.) was around producing reproduction patterns from children's clothing ranging from the early 1900's through the 1950's. (Sorry, those patterns are long gone.) Betty Rast also produced these wonderful little instructional booklets on basic through advanced embroidery and handsewing. I believe the impulse to create these booklets came from the teachings from the Valentine Museum, beginnings of SAGA and the Embroider's Guild. Each topic listed on the front cover is explained with beautiful clear drawings to give the student a good background on the topic. Some are single items while others we have multiples of, ask.
